On the 11th and the 12th of March, I was invited by the Musée du Quai Branly to draw during the “ethnological” weekend. I went to many conferences, I walked in the gallery where all the masks, statues and other objets are exhibited… In short, it was great and I have only one regret: not being able to duplicate myself to go to all conferences. ^^’
The Museum will post the videos of the conferences on their Youtube channel soon. In the meantime, I’ll post the drawings I made during this weekend. Let’s start with the first conference which was about luxury. A modern and very relevant topic…!
Luxury by Marc Abélès.
Globalization, a world of streams and circulation.
A chinese ad about the idea of luxury.
– Lapis-Lazuli? – Of course…! – She is a big liar. It’s glass paste. I sold it to her.
Counterfeit existed already in Antiquity…
Art for all
During the Miami Art Basel fair, H&M sold tee-shirts designed by Alex Katz (a pop art american artist)
– Alex Katz x H&M. And you?
– I’m more classical. Da Vinci x Petit Bateau.18th Century in France
– This vase comes from China. – Oooh…!
A long time ago in China
– A cup made of porcelain…? – Yes, but made in France! – Give us something more special like an elephant as small as a child but as strong as a lion! – Ah.
Luxury over the years
21st Century in France
Made in China… lame!
In China nowadays
